Almost impossible to reach a representative live. The customer website rarely works. Poor customer experience overall.

Won’t answer the phone

I have spent 2 hours of my life on hold on Friday no one pickup to change service locations Now I am on the phone again 25 minutes again on Monday still no one answering. You do not care about your customers this is horrible service. Why are you so *** to your customers!!!

I would like to know if you sent quest utilities to my property and why did you send them they mark the street I didnt know we were doing business with them my question is whats going on.?

User's recommendation: If you’re going to send somebody out a letter should come before they actually come to your door don’t you think.

Markouts

Had south jersey gas employee arrive at my property . I had mark out for a fence that was being installed. South jersey gas employee told me he had to check the marks because our markout company is incompetent. This made me feel real safe.

Complaint

Had sjgas employee come to my property to check on a markout in which a sub contractor had called for. This sjgas worker smelled of Marijuana and would not tell me why he was there marking out my property even though it was already marked out ...

User's recommendation: Call and ask why.

Live in cape may area. Had sjgas employee small van with emblems on it .

Stop began to paint my gas service .. I asked him why ..its already marked he began to tell me the markout people do not no what they are doing...

this made me feel real comfortable.. this guy kept telling me markout company don't know whatbthey are doing

Do not understand why gas bill is so high

I have a 4 burner stove top with electrical start, brand new hot water heater set low and everything else is electric. Electric oven, no fireplace, 2 HVAC units but do not run in the summer and yet my bill is so high. The meter needs to be checked for accuracy. There is no way with the low natural gas prices why I should be paying $211 in the summer. The winter yes I can see that maybe with heating the house. Meter 0456335 acct #205084****

8 hours of waiting.

My husband just waited for a South Jersey Gas employee for 8 hours . No show and no update on arrival time. Seriously!!! This was a scheduled appointment. Again Seriously!!!! Amazing Work Ethic South Jersey Gas. NOT!!!!!!!!

Bunch of Liars

The person who inspects the house to start the service will call the consumer to confirm the appointment. Five minutes later he will call you back claiming that he was called for an emergency and will come back later but not sure at what time. If you call customer service they will try to force you to leave a key outside so they can have access but don't know how many hours after. The manager will try to calm you down saying that the emergency wasn't as bad and the driver was going to resume normal tasks in an hour or so. After five hours driver still hasn't shown up and now customer service says that they had multiple emergencies and might take until 11 PM. That so-called emergency appears to be delayed and they try to cover them up. Someone should analyze this company and maybe close it and have someone else do the service. Someone who can actually get the job done

Have you ever tried to contact them with a complaint ! I had a new gas installed and I cannot lodge a complaint or talk to anyone , they need to fix of my driveway and sidewalk Disgusted customer

Shake you down for money

Got a little behind . Theysaid i needed 75%of 1100.00 to not get turned off . I said can 400.00 and 2 200.00 payments to get the amount . Not willing to bend . Mob style shake down. If they come on property will call police for treasepassing. Also mentioned to them my wife suffers From congestive heart disease.

LOL... How is $1,100 a "little behind?" Sounds like you decided to not pay your bill for as long as could but finally saw the end of the road coming in the form of disconnection.

You owe a lot of money and they aren't about "working with" you. They want you caught up or else.

You sound like a serial dead beat who has a way to post online but won't pay their power bills. Good on them for forcing you to honor your bills and not have your charges spread out to the rest of us.

Customer service stinks

South Jersey Gas customer service is the worst. They are currently doing work on my street using a contractor by the name of Kielly Services. Kielly called me to get access to my home and and left a garbled message on my voicemail that I could not understand. Three phone calls later to SJG customer service and 5 phone numbers later that they had on file for this contractor went nowhere . In addition, the customer service rep at SJG that I spoke with repeatedly called me by the wrong name and I had to give him my address three times during the call because he kept forgetting.

Terrible Service

They told me I owe 1,100$ from service from April 2018 to January 2019 I have proof of the payments & they are saying that I was billed incorrectly but can’t tell me how! The customer service is terrible. The company is full of uneducated people who have poor customer service skills and don’t know how to treat a paying customer!

Horrible company

Sj gas is a horrible company with even worse customer service. So many no call no shows. Then when getting serviced turned on for a separate room where I already have service in another store I was told our heater unit was red tagged and a fire hazard so we couldn’t use it. Since the only gas in the room was the heater it was assumed they didn’t turn on the gas since it was a fire hazard. Now I have a $50 bill with no usage for turn on and day service fees on gas we can’t use and have to wait for them to come back out and turn it off. Hopefully they actually show up this time.

Thanks for digging up our brand new streets and making them a mess

We're in Ocean City NJ and after decades of living with awful streets my neighbors and I finally got them completely repaved. Everyone was notified that any work needing street digging should be done ahead of the paving schedule. South Jersey Gas KNEW they had to replace all their old backflow valves and said NOTHING. they let the work go and now our brand new streets are being dug up by their sub-contractor. Not one or two but tens and twenty new holes. Thanks South Jersey Gas, you should be charged with repaving the entire street instead of leaving us with more patch holes than we had to live with for the past 30 years. You guys knew and you put the screws to us. Thanks STINKS, and you know who you are, you stink. You should be fired for not doing your job and for looking the other way. You are a disgrace.

Discovered that this utility is nothing but a den of thieves

After three years of being told that we owed over two thousand dollars with no proof, we finally gave up fighting them because we were so cold, and agreed to make payments on this amount that we did not owe. We lived in a five room condo and there was no way on earth our bill could be that big and they refused to provide any records. We were told if we paid $200 this fall the heat would be on. Then they said the street repair had paved over the outlet in the street and they wanted another $400 to dig a new one. After that, we were told, they promised our heat would be on. They dug a new line. But then they said the heat could not be turned on until we hired and paid for an outside contractor to connect the new line. They didn't think to mention that was necessary. The scariest thing about dealing with SJ Gas is not just that they are dishonest and incompetent. They are vindictive. The woman in the Glassboro office found it amusing that my sister had had a stroke and was partially blind. We are planning to move out of New Jersey just to get away from these people. We would receive better service and honest billing from the Soprano family.

New service hook up.

1st I had to email my lease and ID, they got my email and lease then made me fax my ID because they claim it wasn't in the email. Then I wait 5 business Days for them to schedule a technician to come turn on the gas and do a safety inspection. The gas mind you is only for HOT water. I need to be available per the email from 8 am to 4pm. I've called twice for any info on an arrival time. It's now 4:35pm and they have not once called me. When I asked for an update im only told i will receive a call before they arrive. Extremely Frustrating and a days loss if pay.
